We’re a Social Bunch

Marketing seems to be moving faster than the speed of light at the moment, with all the online marketing developments and activity surrounding social media and social networking.  For some companies, that’s led to ‘non-engagement’ or ‘ostrich marketing’ – let’s stick our head in the sand and ignore it…I’m sure it will go away.  But taking that approach is missing an incredible marketing opportunity…

Never before have your customers had so much power – and been able to tell you exactly what they think.  This may seem brutal – but it’s perhaps what you need to hear…at least, if you care about your customers, it’s what you need to hear.  Gone are the days of businesses marketing their products and services at people – they can now talk back – and it’s great!

According to Google Insights and a recent article in ‘the Marketer’, the amount of searches done online with the words “online review” appended has more than quadrupled in the last four years.  Just look at the influence Trip Advisor has had in the travel sector to see the power these social recommendations can have.

It’s the way we’ve always done business… most business owners we work with tell us that they get most of their business by word of mouth recommendations.  This is word of mouth on steroids!  My advice is to get some advice and jump in – with both feet.  It’s time to get excited about your business again!
