I finally did it – I had one more voucher for £6 off if I spent over £60. So, I tentatively ventured into my local Tesco store this week, armed with a shopping list. I was determined not to make the same mistake as last time and spend £120 again. But, I still bought some items I probably wouldn’t have done without the money-off incentive.
Confident I had more than covered my £60 spend, but having bought more than I planned, I headed for the checkout. My own self-belief was finally restored when the total bill came to just £56. I had done it – and I had to go back for more, so I could finally spend my voucher.
What a brilliant scheme – Tesco effectively bought my custom for 3 months and stopped me spending in another store. I also spent more than I would have done in my usual supermarket, so they’ve increased my basket spend too – absolutely brilliant marketing. Thank you Tesco (for the marketing lesson and the fantastic wine collection I now own)!
