Think back to the last holiday you booked…
How long did it take you to decide where you were going, to book transport, accommodation, transfers etc? Did you research the area and find out what there was to do? Did you buy new clothes? How long did it take you to make arrangements for children or pets, and what time did it take you to pack (and ensure you met the weight limits)?
Compare that length of time to how long you spent planning the other 50 weeks of the year. Do you spend more time planning your ‘escape’ than your life?
Many people do – and that’s why we advise people to start with goal planning. If you don’t know what you want, how will you know when you’ve achieved it?
Often, we drift through life – both at home and at work – and never stop to think about what goals we want to achieve. So our first marketing tip is to sit down and spend time thinking about what you want this year. You can then make a plan to get it. This will keep you focused on what’s important to your business.
If it helps, think about the different areas of your life:
- What do you want to do?
- What would you like to see?
- Where do you wish you could go?
- What would you like to be?
- What would you like to give?
Use these titles as a brainstorm and give yourself at least 10 minutes to see what ideas you come up with – you might surprise yourself!
